From September 8 to 13, the Cannes Yachting Festival will debut three sailing catamarans that will replace the most common hulls in Mediterranean charter bases: the Lagoon 47 replaces the 46, the Fountaine Pajot FP 48 replaces the Tanna 47, and the Leopard 43 replaces the 42. All three are world premieres, none have sailed yet, and none will be delivered before 2027.

Note, because almost no one clarifies it: the figures circulating in the European nautical press (€809,200 for the Lagoon, €799,640 for the FP 48) include the German VAT of 19%. This is not what is paid here. And these are bareboat prices: without generator, air conditioning, watermaker, or serious electronics, there are tens of thousands of euros between the catalog and the boat you really want.

Lagoon 47: the widest, and it shows

With a beam of 7.96 m, it is the most voluminous of the three. The real novelty of the Lagoon 47 is the 12 m² forward cockpit with direct access to the salon: the first time Lagoon has included it as standard on a boat under 60 feet. Three configurations, including one with five cabins designed for charter and a modular "smart room" that can be an office or extra cabin. Base: €680,000 excluding VAT.

Fountaine Pajot FP 48: the longest and the most electric

The FP 48 is half a meter longer and goes further in energy: 2,300 W of solar panels integrated into the roof and optional ODSea+ electric propulsion. CE Category A for up to twelve people, 700 liters of water and 700 liters of diesel, and a three-meter sliding door that merges the salon and cockpit. From three to five cabins, with the Full Maestro suite occupying the entire port hull. Priced the same as the Lagoon.

Leopard 43: cheaper because it is smaller

Here it is important to be clear. The Leopard 43 costs €81,000 less than the Lagoon, but it has almost a meter less beam and weighs 3.3 tons less. It is not a bargain: it is a different boat. In return, it has changed the most underwater. Reverse bows, wave-piercing hulls, a mast nearly a meter taller, and 12% more sail area on a close haul than the Leopard 42. The uncomfortable fact: the draft increases from 1.30 to 1.50 m. If the boat is for charter

The number that decides such a purchase is not the price, but how many weeks it is rented and at what rate. What you won't hear at the stand

None of the three have been tested in the water: all the above are yard data, not independent measurements. The first tests will arrive after Cannes and deliveries will start in 2027.

If you want to sail sooner, the opportunity is on the other side. The Lagoon 46, the Tanna 47, and the Leopard 42 are proven boats, with spare parts and hundreds of units circulating, and their price will move as soon as the replacements touch the water.
